BTW you can remove your main jets with the carbs on but not the idle jets. But honestly, there's not so much room and it's almost easier to take the carbs off to get access. The middle two are a royal pain to get to with the oil pressure switch, etc. in your way.

The jet is more than just the hole down the middle, it has small holes coming in from the sides that you can only clean when the jet is out.
