It is smooth, lightweight, unicellular, cylindrically shaped, hollow body, and very buoyant, and twist less fiber. But it quickly breaks down. WebCotton is a cheap material, and it is still used as the first line of choice in wound dressings due to its abundance and ease of availability. As cotton is not antibacterial itself, various researchers have tried different methods to impart antibacterial activity in cotton for possible utilization as infection management at wound areas.
