Being a soft metal, it requires comparatively less cutting force than other tough metals like steel, titanium, etc. WebbThe shapeoko HDM looks to be a stiff enough machine for milling aluminum very well, but there’s not much info on steel milling. The Avid looks like it can handle steel quite well, but for the full cost of all the parts is almost twice that of the HDM.
